Mods?

Mods are different modes you can play osu! with. These different mods can make gameplay easier, harder, or more interesting. These mods also provide a score multiplier depending on how difficult the mod is. The following are some of the most popular mods.

HD: Means Hidden. Makes gameplay more difficult by providing no approach circles, and all hit circles and sliders disappear after appearing for a short interval. This mod provides a 1.06x multiplier.

HR: Stands for Hard Rock. This mod increases the overall difficulty of beatmaps by: decreasing circle size, increasing the approach rate of objects (Hit circles and sliders), decreasing the amount of “Health” you have before you fail, and flips the entire map over the X-axis. This mod provides a 1.06x multiplier for scores.

DT: Stands for Double Time. However, this actually increases the speed of the map by 1.5x, not 2x. Provides a 1.12x multiplier to scores.

FL: Stands for Flashlight. You play with a restricted field of view. Instead of being able to see the whole map clearly, you can only see a partial circle of it. Intuition and speed are heavily tested here. Provides a 1.12x score multiplier.

EZ: Stands for Easy. Decreases the approach rate of objects. Increases the circle size. More health. Provides a 0.5x score multiplier. Fun Fact: This mod actually makes the game more difficult on higher difficulty maps because the approach rate causes dozens of object to come on screen at once.
