Advanced Information

PP: In Osu!, pp stands for performance points. There are two main contexts to consider pp in, at the beatmap level and at the account level. On an individual beatmap, pp is based on the difficulty of the song and one’s accuracy score on the song. To put simply, the better you perform on a map, the more PP you receive. pp is the units that determine our ranks on Osu! The more pp you have, the higher your rank.

Beatmap: The different “levels” you play. Every beatmap has a song associated with it. Any one can “map”(make/create) a beatmap, but it’s quite difficult and time consuming.

Beatmap Difficulties: Beatmap difficulties range from 0-10 stars. There are thousands of maps, maps that are super easy like .68*, or even maps that are super difficult, like 8.78*.

Accuracy: Your performance on a beatmap is represented through accuracy that ranges from 0% – 100%, with 0% being the worst and 100% being perfect. When you hit circles, there are three possible outputs of accuracy: MISS, 100, or 300. MISS occurs if you time/miss an object. 100 occurs if you hit the object correctly with some degree of error (Ex: timing or incomplete slider). Accuracy will decrease if you hit either a MISS or 100. Getting 300 on everything in a beatmap will result in a 100% accuracy.

Approach Rate: The rate of how fast an object appears and has to be clicked. The faster the AR, the shorter the gap between the appearance and click-time of an object. This is an AR11 map, one of the fastest Approach Rates in the game. Keep in mind this person’s playing on HD.
